This is the finest library I have ever visited. ..I haven't been to all, but have darkened the doors of several substantial genealogy libraries of the South. ..When my brother lived in the Wash D.C. area, day after day. Yes, that was years ago, but it is nice to know they still have every relevant book on their shelves, albeit some are "by request" at the desk, i.e., in the basement ... Upon request, a libratian would bring books from the basememt. ..Fabulous.

Two of my books are shelved in the DAR Library in Washington D.C. Listed under "Rochette" is "Bacon - Bourland: Michael Bacon of the Wataugah District in 1775 Jonesboro, TN." ... Our Bourland Society had no members who descended from "Isabella Bourland Bacon (1861-1824)." who had three daughters. ..I found new info about the "Battle of Kings Mountain" which is difficult research, so I assembled my 16 pages into a report folder and sent it to the DAR Library. I'm glad they still have that little book shelved because it is a good outline - with families of all three daughters - for others to use.
.
Two of the most active members of the "Duncan Indian Territory DAR Chapter" are my cousins, both of whom had direct ancestors in Bourland's Regt. .. I'm thrilled to report that this DAR chapter emphasizes Oklahoma's Indian culture and history. They search for speakers to give presentations about Oklahoma Indians. ..About time.
