Re: Historical Accuracy
In Response To: Historical Accuracy ()

When I started to include the Rampp & Rampp book in a handout biblio several years ago, I was warned by a good friend (PhD, OSU, NOT Dr. Fischer) that I shouldn't include the book because the authors were not reliable researchers and had jumped to too many false conclusions.

Of course, there are always differing opinions! Muriel Wright, a beloved friend and mentor, was unstinting in her criticisms of Annie H. Able's works . . . but mostly because Dr. Able was "blatently pro-Union" accoring to Miss Wright.

My own first supervisor and great teacher, Martha Royce Blaine, always cautioned me to do my own research and not to not rely on published sources for "facts".

(And then there are those who leave out discovered facts because they don't support the author's pre-conceived conclusions.)
