Douglas Hancock Cooper lived at Fort Washita from the end of the War until his death. There is a buiding there known as the "Cooper Cabin" which was purchased by the United Daughters of the Confederacy and donated to the Oklahoma Historical Society. There is (or at least was for years and years and years) a large granite marker near the cabin with a brief biographical sketch of the late-Choctaw/Chickasaw Indian Agent and Confederate general officer.
