Chris Columbus Colbert, 1st Choctaw-Chickasaw Vols

re: Christopher Columbus Colbert (1844-1883) in CSA. ... "C.C. Colbert served one yr as a private in CSA, became ill and had to leave." per Luther Hill's HISTORY OF STATE OF OKLAHOMA, vol II, Chicago, Lewis Pub Co (1908) 224 pages.... see vIIp213. widow Nancy Bourland Colbert submitted this 1908 article to Luther Hill.
.
Capt. Peter Maytubby enrolled James Colbert [Brushy Jim Colbert, bro to C.C. Colbert], age 30, on Sep 2, 1864 at Goodland, C.N. in The First Regt. Choctow & Chickasaw Volunteers. ..The "1864 Goodland, C.N." is consistent with C.C. Colbert's marriagee record.
.
Marriage on Apr 21, 1864 in Goodland, Choctaw Nation, I.T. of Nancy Bourland and Columbus Colbert. O.P. Stark [Cumberland Presbyterian Minister] performed 1864 ceremony.
.
The "Billy Bowland" of the First Regt. Choctow & Chickasaw Volunteers is probably William Howard "Chickasaw Bill" Bourland (1847-1904), son of Reuben Bourland who also served in the CSA. When After Nancy Bourland Colbert's parents died in 1852, she lived with Reuben Bourland (1820-1900). And by the way, Chickasaw Bill Bourland was Secretary of The Dawes Commission, i.e., he assigned land allotments.
.
1863 letter to Bourland“... Your Brother, R. Bourland [1820-1900] came up a few days ago, is now with the [CSA] Army near Scullyville [Choctaw Nation, I.T., now Spriro, LeFlore Co OK]...” per G.B. Hester’s October 19, 1863 letter to James Bourland. per THE BOURLAND PAPERS.
.
Christopher Columbus "Tum” Colbert, b. Jul 8, 1844 on a planation near Colbert's Station at Boggy River and Red River, Choctaw Nation, I.T., son of Caroline Moore [1816 near Holly Spgs MS (now Marshall Co)-1896 Union Chapel School Cem, Peaceable Valley, Choctaw Nation (now Pittsburg Co OK) and James Isaac Colbert, Jr. [c1805 MS-1854 Old Goodland Cem, Choct Co OK, m. Jan 25, 1833 Memphis, Shelby Co TN, then lvd Marsh Co MS, in Ft Towson IT by 1847 (prob arr 1842],
.
The Colbert family history is outlined in Kerry Armstrong's great web site.

.
CONCLUSION: I didn't find a record of C.C. Colbert's CSA service; but I did find his brother's CSA record. I think he served one year as his widow stated. Thus far, all of the Nancy Bourland Colbert family records have proven to be correct.
.
Additional soldiers in the CSA in Indian Territory, probably the 1st Choctaw-Chicksaw Volunteers:
1) C.C. Colbert
2) Billy Bowland
3) Reuben Bourland
