Vann's Place and Sandtown

The below is an excerpt from correspondence from Hindman, headquartered near Ft Smith, to Roane dated Nov. 25, 1862. I am looking for more information on the locations of Vann's Place on Verdigris (where Cooper's trains were located during the Battle of Chusto-Talasah 12/09/1861) and Sandtown (where Gano and Watie crossed the Verdigris on their way to the battle at Flat Rock Creek during the Second Cabin Creek raid).

Hindman to Roane, Nov. 25, 1862

They are also to be notified, before being furloughed that as far as practicable, when in the field, they are to be stationed and employed so as directly to defend the particular localities in which their homes are as follows: The new Choctaw regiment when raised, and Reynolds Chickasaw battalion, at or near Ft. Arbuckle, Chilly McIntosh’s Second Creek regiment at or near Thlobthlocco, or Green Leaf Town, near the north fork of the of the Canadian. John Jumpers Seminole battalion, at or near the Seminole agency. Within supporting distance of Chillily McIntosh’s regiment - D. M. McIntosh’s First Creek regiment at or near the Bed Creek Agency (Vann’s place), on the Verdigris, ten miles from Fort Gibson: Broken Arms Osage battalion, at Sandtown, on the same stream ten miles above; Watie’s First Cherokee regiment at or near Frozen Rock, three miles below Fort Gibson; the new Cherokee regiment, when formed on Skin Bayou, opposite Fort Coffee, the First Choctaw and Chickasaw regiment at or near Fort Coffee.

I speculate that "Bed Creek Agency", may be a "mis-transcription", because I've never seen reference to such a place (How's that for arrogant?). Perhaps this should be "Old Creek Agency" which was between the present towns of Okay and Tullahassee and west/south of the Verdigris and north of the Arkansas. Just south of present Wagoner, US 69 crosses Vann's [Van's] Lake. The Old Creek Agency was not 10 miles from Ft Gibson (more like 5 or 6 miles) but further north near Vann's Lake would be.

I presume Sandtown to be about where US 51 crosses the Verdigris between Coweta and Wagoner and this would be consistent with being about ten miles from the vicinity of Vann's Lake.
