Chs. B. Johnson; Johnson's Depot on Canadian

Danny Knight,
.
The "Charles B. Johnson" you are looking for is listed in my Name Index as:
.
JOHNSON, Charles B. Johnson, b-1820 CT; m-Margaret; 1860 Sebastian Co AR cen p1139, of Johnson & Grimes (Indian Agent, CSA)
.
Now, this is enough info for my book, although I'd like to have his full Christian name and his birth county. All I'm interested in for the 39,000+ entries in my Name Index is WHERE were they found in the 1860 census. The Arkansas message board probably has his full name and history in their archives.
.
For years I've wondered where this "Charles B. Johnson" was from and how he got lucrative contracts. Recently, I was reading my great friend's (Earl Elam of Hillsboro TX) book KITIKITI'SH that had the statement "... Charles B. Johnson, a Fort Smith merchant, ..." ... I jumped up and found this census info in 30 seconds and entered it in my Name Index. Usually I just make red marks when I see info of interest, but I've read his name so many times -- including CSRs in Bourland's Regt -- and was so curious.
.
Jones. Moreover, I relish identifying people with surnames such as Jones, Williams, and Johnson, etc. ... I shall never forget the elating positive feeling that shivered through my body in about 1988 in the Mayfield KY library, when I pickedup a book entitiled: THE JONES OF GRAVES COUNTY, KENTUCKY (in the 1998 Macintosh print of the day). ..This gent had gone through most, if not all, of the Graves County records (Graves county courthouse burned c1885) as well as books in the Mayfield library to find everything about everyone named Jones.
.
Archives of this message board....Remember, when in doubt, search our archival postings. ..I would hope that SERIOUS researchers would check with our archival info, which addresses the Montford Johnson question.
.
Montford Johnson (1843-1896) is the subject of THE CHICKASAW RANCHER. It is an informative pre-1870 Chickasaw Nation resource. I hope serious researchers read (at least the first 100 pages) -- and serious researchers will mark numerous pages because this is one of the few books written by a person who has spent his whole life studying a Chickasaw Nation topic: "Montford Johnson" in this case.
.
Montford Johnson had to make a living for his whole family at age 22 because his father had abandoned them. In order to understand the Chickasaw Nation, one must know about Courtney Flatts, named for the Rebecca Courtney. Wm. Howard "Chicksaw Bill" Bourland lived at Courtney Flatts when he was elected to be the Secretary of the Dawes Commission for the Chickasaw Nation. ..He was THE person who assigned allotments. Since our Washita Valley land is much more fertile than the rest of Oklahoma, his allocations WERE very important in Oklahoma history. e.g., what if he had decided to give each child land that was not contigious, it would have been near worthless. Present day Oklahoma history has skiped all of this. ... Some of the details can be found on:

.
At this stage of my life, I like books in which the author has spent his "whole life" studying a subject. I have been dismayed to have seen people on C-SPAN present a "hollow" non-fiction book every two years or so. Balderdash. Non-fiction is NOT, or should not be, a stream of consciousness. ..If the topics of the books a person presents are not closely related, the book is, as Truman Capote said, "a typing exercise."
