The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

A slight "correction" is hereby kindly offered:
The first Masonic Lodge in Indian Territory is/was Eufaula Lodge #1, AF&AM, which was a duly constituted lodge of Master Masons, made-up of members of the Creek Tribe and others (whites and other members of other tribes). It was a Creek Lodge and conducted it's "work" in that language and in English. It is still an active lodge, active in the works of the Lodge, and is located on the westerly side of the current town of Eufaula, just off of U.S. Hwy 69.
My Grandfather, James Robert Marion McCracken, was Worshipful Master of this lodge.
