doaksville

Does anyone know anything about Doaksville/Ft. Towson during the Civil War? Received service papers and pension application of my ancestor who was there - witnesses say he was sickly. A service record said he was being held at Doaksville by Provost Guard. What was that? And if he were being a prisoner of his on CSA at the end of the war, why and how would he have been able to have a pension? Being noted at sickly, if he were in the hospital, would he have had a Provost Guard? thanks, elaine
