I'm not trying to criticize the book or anything. It looks very informative and hey I'm just glad there are starting to be more books about the Civil War in our neighborhood.

It's just that I spent almost all of last summer reading the OR accounts about the war in Indian Territory and a common theme from many of the commanders, especially the Confederates, was that nobody cared about the war out here. I feel that to a degree this lack of interest has carried over into the historical narrative. I know I.T. was just a side show (perhaps a side show of a side show) but I think it makes for one heck of story.

I don't have a problem with which battle was first, I'm just pretty certain that Newtonia was not the only battle where Indian regiments fought each other.
