I remember you mentioned Sandtown before and, if I remember right, you were hiking from the Verdigris to Flat Rock. From the section road that intersects Hwy 51 immediately east of the bridge, there is a Sandtown Church and cemetery one mile north and 1/2 mile east. Is this the area you found? Go to the map linked below and zoom in on the map border in the upper left, directly west on Wagoner.

Old maps (pre-statehood) show Sandtown several miles further north -- more directly west of Chouteau than Wagoner -- but that doesn't seem likely to me that Gano/Watie crossed that far north and then had to move a considerable distance southeast to the haying camp.

I found a link regarding Sandtown in this general area. There are two maps. The first a post-statehood map showing Sandtown northeast of Catoosa.
