The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Good show on Indians in the CW

as mr. jones said, the video is "indian warriors: the untold story of the civil war," and it is available from amazon and history channel. i also market a set of three dvds that are mainly used in the classroom, but are pretty comprehensive covering oklahoma's history called "the story of oklahoma," as well as a single dvd called "the people: profiles of native americans," which cover several native american leaders prominent in oklahoma's history. these were produced by sigma educational media, a company that was formed by my stepfather, former ada high superintendent max skelton, former houston, texas and oklahoma news anchor and "eyes of texas" personality ron stone, his son, ron stone jr., presently a college instructor and part owner of stonefilms of texas, and myself. we have tried to get deeper into oklahoma history for the classroom, and move past the sometimes cursory instruction our students are handed today. of course, my favorite part is our involvement in the war. as you all have said, it is rarely even mentioned, and even then it is often glossed over.
