Evelyn,
I'm still looking for a precise location but...

My best guess is around Needham. Soda Springs Road is about 3 miles east of Checotah and 2 miles west of Texanna Road and runs south to Needham, a couple of miles northwest of Texanna. There was a Soda Springs School somewhere in T11N R17E (in 1933) which is the southeast corner of McIntosh County.

From Steele's reports, it sounds like they moved south from Honey Springs nearly to the Canadian but still in the Creek Nation. (Texanna is in the Cherokee Nation. The boundary runs nearly parallel to US Hwy 69 a few miles to the east. Texanna is where some of the "Texas Cherokee" settled after being driven out of Texas). Steele also mentions crossing the Canadian to the east. The Canadian generally runs west-east so I assume he is talking about the stretch from near Briartown/Starr's/Whitefield to the mouth where it runs north-northeast. Camp Pike was on the south side of the Canadian just northeast of Whitefield.
