Re: RE:CHOCTAW CAPTAIN REASON JONES

I wanted to add that I had read about the Bayou Menard Skirmish. I was wondering if it was possible that Reason Jones might have been one of the three Captains killed that day with Col. Iskitini Homa? I found where the last name Homa was associated with Cornelius Jones. Some of his siblings had the last name Homa. I know that Iskitini Homa was about 55 years old, Reason was about 37 yrs. old and there was another young man who was named Solomon R. Jones, who was possibly killed in that battle. He was 25 yrs. old when he enlisted.

Cornelius Jones had a brother named Solomon R. Jones, who was first a Captain, then a Major in Co E & Co K of the Choctaw Mounted Rifles. Solomon's father applied for a death pension for him in 1864. Iskitini Homa could have been an uncle or cousin to Reason and Solomon Jones. I am just not sure if either Reason or Solomon were in this battle.

Some records for each man named is found on Fold 3 muster cards.
