Re: Camp of 14th KS Cav - Feb. 11, 1864

I was wondering how you think Gen. John M. Thayer's dispatch from Ft. Smith of February 3, 1864 reached Col. Phillips' expedition in the field just north of the South Canadian River (near Hillibee / Hanna, OK) on February 8, 1864, yet Maj. Brown's 14th Kansas enroute from Ft. Smith to join Phillips can't seem to find him with nearly 500 cavalry. Do you think Thayer being a Grant man and Moonlight being a disgruntled Curtis man had anything to do with it?
