Just in case this hasn't been covered:
Summarized from RG 109, Chapter II, Volume 201, National Archives:
General Magruder, commanding the District of Arkansas, was attempting to coordinate a relief column under General Wharton to meet up with Price and supply him with beeves and flour, etc.
On Nov 17, 1864 Magruder wrote Wharton that he had just received information that satisfied him that Price would be coming via Ultimate Thule and Paraclifta.
On the same day he wrote Wharton that Maxey had reported Price at Perryville on the 14th and for Wharton to head in that direction with the supplies for Price.
On Nov 19th, Magruder told Wharton [en route to Caddo Gap] that he had just learned for the first time from Dept Hqs that arrangements have been made for the supply of Gen Price moving via Ph[l]easant Bluff, Boggy Depot and Doaksville. He tells Wharton that under the circumstances he is store the supplies he brought with him at Laynesport or Mill Creek...Your chief of subsistence will take receipts from Price's officers...
