As some of you may remember from previous posts of mine, I am normally a
historian of the postbellum Indian Wars army. In searching on the Gilcrease Institute
webpage, I found on their search engine, the following:

Home of Col. Phillips during the Civil War/American, Cherokee

At first I was doubtful that it was Fort Gibson but the sidebar section had notes
relative to the photo and it is, indeed, a photo of the post/town from across the
river, with a ferry and apparently, soldiers aboard. It may be the only Civil War
period photo of the site and certainly taken before the 1866-1868 rebuild of the
post. I'm excited! How about you, gents?
