Old Military Bridge Across Marmaton River, Fort Scott, Kansas very similar in construction to Beale Wagon Road bridges.
Three-span iron bowstring arch truss bridge made by King Iron Bridge Company, Cleveland, OH, 1878
37 51 33.4 N, 94 40 14.8 W [ 50’ 6-panel pony, 112’ 10-panel thru, 50’ 6-panel pony] bowstring truss arch bridge across Marmaton River. Locally called the Old Military Bridge across the Marmaton.
Has cut stone bridge abutments in place much like Beale's Little River Iron Bridge in Hughes County, OK. Cast and wrought iron structural members similar to Whipple design, but with some technical improvements. Overall, it is up but in bad shape now.
