The Western Beale Wagon Road in Arizona is better known today for being the U.S. Army's great "Camel Road" experiment of 1857-59 for using 25 imported camels to help build the Beale Wagon Road across the Desert Southwest. And its most popular personality today is one of the imported camel riders from Syria, "Hi Jolly." The Last Camp of Hi Jolly will be found at the Hi Jolly Cemetery located just north of IH 10 in western Quartzite, Arizona. Hi Jolly's tomb has a large pyramid base with a camel figurine on top. It is a very popular tourist stop in Quartzite. Search "Last Camp of Hi Jolly" on Google, or Google Maps for further details and pictures.
