Re: Texas Cattle Trail / Dragoon Trail

Mr. Parker:

My knowledge of the Texas Cattle Trail and its location passing thru south-central Oklahoma mainly comes from the 1871 BLM-GLO land survey for more accurately locating the Chickasaw Nation. General Oklahoma land surveys were not done until over 25 years later.

The Texas Cattle Trail can be traced thru the Chickasaw Nation from the Battle of Middle Boggy battlefield site south thru Cochran/Stonewall and on south to Fort Washita, etc. lying mostly just east of the Blue River.

Knowledge of the Oklahoma Land Survey (or Texas Panhandle) helps.

You might start at Cochrans/Old Stonewall (T2N/R7E) at:

https://glorecords.blm.gov/details/survey/default.aspx?dm_id=17910&sid=p5jroopl.5zw#surveyDetailsTabIndex=1

and work north & south from there.

Going south, the TCT will stay in Range 7E all the way down to Fort Washita/Lake Texoma.
at 5S/7E.

Google Maps satellite photos helps, but I know of no modern on-map plots of the TCT. Keep in mind that the TCT ran thru the Chickasaw Nation for less than a decade, and Texas Cowboys were not really welcomed visitors, nor were their frequently sick cows and mesquite-laced fertilizer.

Hope you find what you are seeking, and that my info helps in this regard. Good luck.
