Re: Texas Cattle Trail / Dragoon Trail

Although many today refer to it as the Texas Road, from what I have found in period documents, it is not often
called that. It was known, of course, by many names. But, I digress. For the northern part of the road, and
an excellent map, go to the Kansas Historical Society webpage and look on their periodicals. You will find
on the section devoted to The Kansas Historical Quarterly, May, 1942, Volume X!, No. 2, pp. 115-129,
the digitized article, "The Fort Leavenworth-Fort Gibson Military Road and the Founding of Fort Scott.
You may find many of your questions answered as it is an overall view which others on this board
have teased out local information. Welcome, to the board and let us know if the article helps. It
is great that it has been digitized to be shared.
