Britton tells the tale of the young Confederate spy captured while wearing female clothing and condemned to be executed.. Nowhere else
is to be found this story. The ORWB's don't mention anything nor the alleged fate. I checked Chronicling America, the Library of Congress
newspaper archive and found nothing. Nil Nada. Zilch. I came to the conclusion several years ago that there was no such spy and may be
a mangled story with some truth about women being seen on the edge of the military lines. Much like the rumors among Allied troops in the
early years of the Great War concerning spies hither and yon.

What has happened to this board? It's not that hot-at least we're not wearing layers of woolen cloth!
