Unfortunately, the CSR for Alfred L. Simmons didn't have much info beyond what I described in the earlier postings and URL given for him above. Maybe someday I will stumble across some docs, etc.

Wonder if the Stout Papers (CSA Surgeon General for the western armies) in Austin, TX might have something in them....??????
