I must respectfully disagree with Johnny. Huey's Company did not take part in Morgan's Raid. Some members of the company surrendered at Fort Donelson in February 1862. Others, including Capt. Huey, went out with Forrest and escaped capture. Huey eventually commanded an unofficial battalion late in the war that was attached to Forrest's Cavalry Corps. One post-war biography referred to the Livingston County attorney-at-law as "Colonel," but unfortunately, there are few records on that unit. There is some mention of Huey and Company in Ed Porter Thompson's "History of the Orphan Brigade."
