Lee, I too was confused by the indication of a 'Graves Kentucky Battery' at Chickamauga as listed in the Official Records of the Rebellion. I also saw this listing in the Order of Battle in a book by Peter Cozzens, "This Terrible Sound", 'The battle of Chickamauga'. However in a book by Stewart Sifukis entitled 'Compendium of the Confederate Armies', he states on page 5 that: 'Graves' Mississippi and Kentucky Artillery Battery was merged into this (Kentucky 1st Artillery Battery also known as Cobb's Artillery Battery) battery at Murfreesboro, Tennessee in November 1862. Major Rice E. Graves (who was killed in the battle and later replaced by Captain Robert Cobb) was the Artillery Battalion commander in Breckinridge's Division at Chickamauga. Graves' Artillery Battalion consisted of; Cobb's KY Battery (Robert Cobb), 5th Co Washington LA Artillery (C.H. Slcomb) and Johnston's TN Battery (J.W. Mebane). I have used the websites cited by Ray Knight and found them to be an excellent place for unit information. Good luck, Nick.
