I think you're right about Southern being a state of mind, but I think that in Kentucky's case, and having spent some time in the North, our culture is also more closely aligned with that of the South. By the way, your books on Kentucky Confederate Soldiers and Kentucky Confederate Pensioners have been a big help in my research!
