Not all of Forrest's Kentuckians served in the units mentioned.
My grandfather, a native of Nebo, Hopkins County, Kentucky, left home in late 1861 and enlisted under Col. Forrest at Memphis that same year. He served under Rev. David Kelley for most of the war. His unit changed identities several times, usually being refered to as "B" Company, 3rd Tennessee Cavalry Regiment.
