Herb --

"Caudell's Army" refers to the 10th Kentucky Mounted, later recognized as the 13th Kentucky Cavalry. They were regarded as regular Confederate soldiers, just like all the others. I have a book about the regiment somewhere.

The 16th Georgia P. R. Battalion left Morgan's command in the summer of 1862. It was breifly under his command during the summer of 1864. At the time of the Cynthiana Raid, the battalion was divided -- part in Virginia, and part in East Tennessee. A careful survey of service records on microfilm should help you locate the whereabouts of battalion members in the late spring of 1864.

For lists of the Confederate units involved in the Cynthiana raid, find a copy of Bluegrass Confederate: The Headquarters Diary of Edward O. Guerrant. It was Guerrant's duty to keep records of the units involved, and he never mentions any soldiers from Georgia.
