Herb --

I've chased many a rabbit myself, and wish to spare others. The worst part of rabbit chases involves my emotions. Assured of matters before all the evidence comes to light, I get emotionally involved with my conclusions. It can be very difficult to change gears once I'm confronted with unpleasant facts.

Because the battalion operated in different fields of duty at the same time, tracing its history will be no easy task. While waiting on the microfilm reader to become available, you will profit from reading other unit histories from Vaughn's Brigade. For instance, this may be useful --

Clark, Reuben G. - Valleys of the Shadow : The Memoir Of Confederate Captain Reuben G. Clark, Company I, 59th Tennessee - Univ. of Tennessee Press.

You should also find a copy of 'Bluegrass Confederate', mentioned in my other post.
