A question and perhaps a little project!

Currently, I'm doing some research of my Kentucky CW era ancestors. I knew the military service of several of my Amyx, Henry, Lee, Lewis, et al, ancestors who were centered around Harlan and Morgan counties in Eastern Kentucky, especially my direct ones. I'm attempting to expand this information to include collateral ancestry (i.e., uncles by blood and marriage). What I've discovered and knew from past research, is that no "complete" listing of "units by county" exists for the Kentucky units. I think this tool would be an outstanding research help for genealogists and historians to quickly identify the source counties of both the Union and Confederate units from the Bluegrass state.

If such a resource exists, could one of you please make me aware of it? If such a "complete" listing does not exist in one place, let's use this message as a beginning of a thread to accumulate this data. Once we can obtain a complete list, I'll share the information with the contributors here and at the various Kentucky Civil War websites and with the USGenWeb county sites.

Thanks and I hope you'll participate.
