Orphan Brigade at Shiloh

Butch,

The Orphan Brigade was involved in another friendly fire incident at Shiloh - same cause. As the story goes, one of the Kentucky regiments fired into the rear of a Louisiana regiment, who were wearing dark blue coats. The Pelicans then took their coats off and turned them inside-out - white linings being better than blue.
(I don't have access to my references here in Iraq, but I believe this is related in either Thompson's "History of the Orphan Brigade," or Davis' book on the Brigade.)

Will be happy to trade info on the 1st Ky. Inf. I have been gathering info for a few years, working on a regimental history of the unit.
