I have a copy of General N. B. Forrest's casualty report covering the Kentucky Brigade. Casualties and fatalities were not near as high as reported in Yankee newspapers just after the battle. Most stories of the attack on Fort Anderson have many inconsistencies with the actual facts as reported by members of the Kentucky Brigade after the war when they were trying to clear up the reputation of their Brigade and Brigade commander.
