I've done a quick search of the Civil War Soldiers & Sailors System at http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ , The Broadfoot Roster of Civil War Soldiers on CD-ROM and through my account at Ancestry.Com . The Archibald Hasty I keep running into in KY was born in 1795-1799 and married a Jane Smith. I cannot find a record for an "A" or Archibald Hasty from Kentucky.

Do you know anything else about him, like DOB, wife, siblings, County of Residence, etc?

There are several Hastys from Kentucky in the CW; however, none of these units participated at Gettysburg. It seems some of the Archibald Hastys children I've found relocated to Illinois and Arkansas. Could this family story relate to one of these children?
