Hi, Johnny Reb. You helped me find one of my relatives, so I know you do thorough work. I just wanted to add a comment to your reply about this fellow who may have served in a unit that was organized nowhere near where he lived. It is possible that it happened just that way. Not everyone enlisted where he lived. I had an ancestor who was from Alabama, who just happened to be visiting in New Orleans, Louisiana, when the war broke out. He joined up right there, and spent the war in a Louisiana rather than an Alabama regiment. His other brothers all served in Alabama regiments.
