Edwards mentions that there were several hot battles in Breckinridge County. Most of my information came from John N. Edwards, William E. Connelley, Carl Breihan, Joanne Eiken and Donald Hale. I was able to find a little more information from Chris Bishop, Ian Drury's book, "1400 Days The Civil War Day By Day" and Paul Wellman's book, "A Dynasty of Western Outlaws." There isn't much on Quantrill and his men, and finding anything on them was quite difficult.

Edwards was too pro-Quantrill, etc.; Connelley too anti-Quantrill, etc. Albert Castel mentions that even though Edwards information "has an inherent ring of authenticity" you should read Edwards with caution, and really you need to read Connelley with caution, too. By reading what others had to say about the different battles, sometimes I could get a clearer picture.
