Re: civil war actions in Northern Ky.

Hi Jason,

If you can get these through your library or interlibrary loan, they have a wealth of information on the Union forts that were built to protect northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, and the skirmishes in the northern Kentucky area in September 1862 as Confederate Genl Kirby Smith's forces moved against Cincinnati. If you happen to live in northern Kentucky, the Covington Public Library has the Geaslen book (or used to!). If you can visit the Behringer-Crawford Museum in Devou Park in Park Hills (south of Covington), they have some records and artifacts from archaeological surveys of some of the old fort ruins.

Geaslen, Chester F.
"Our Moment of Glory in the Civil War." Newport, KY: Otto Printing Company, 1972 (Third Printing).

"Blue & Gray" magazine, Volume III Issue 5 (May 1986). Issue features "Panic on the Ohio! Confederates March on Cincinnati."
