You've probably read the same accounts of Jerome Clarke that I've read. It seemed as though Prentice was belittling the Union forces, and I believe that this is partly the reason Clarke was treated as an outlaw intead of a soldier.

As for the town of Webster, it's only about 7 miles southeast of Union Star, so Clarke could very well have been captured near there. There is a historical marker for "Sue Mundy" that's located on U.S.Highway 60 about 1 1/2 miles east of Irvington, near the Breckinridge and Meade County line. In my opinion, it's about 10 miles southeast of where it should be located.
