9th Ky. Cavl

I found this really strange, but I need some help. I was doing some research in a Confederate Cemetery in LaGrange, Georgia and found a grave marked with a headstone that states," Col. J.P. AUSTIN, 9th Ky. Cav." now the strange part of this is the grave is in a section of the cemetery that all of the graves were from 1863 or 1864. But Col. Austin had a slab over his grave with a bronze marker in it, stating that his date of death was 1911. The marker on the slab said " Col. J. P. Austin, CSA, and then the date of birth and date of death" But the headstone matches the others that were there in 1863. LaGrange was a hospital town, so the graves there are from soldiers that died in the hospitals. So I would really like any info on this Col. that anyone has, because I have not been able to match his name with anyone from Ky. Cav. units. and I find the dates very strange. any and all help will be greatly apprecitated. thanks, tom
