Howdy
There are five possibilites listed under a search for Wallace, J, Confederate, KY, in the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors Database at www.itd.nps.gov/cwss
Wallace, J, 2nd Regt KY Cav (Duke's)
James, 10th Regt (Partisan) KY Cav (Johnson's)
John, Jesse's Bn KY Mounted Riflemen
John, Rowan's Co, KY Partisan Rangers
Joshua, 4th Regt, KY Mounted Inf
On-line Confederate Pension search for Texas doesn't provide much help.
Wallace, John, Menard Co, rejected
John, Travis Co, pension # 38200 (however, appears to have died in Travis Co as wife also files in Travis Co after his death and awarded pension # 42831)
Joseph, Grayson Co, pension # 47968 (wife also files in Grayson Co after his death and awarded penison # 51103)
Joseph Reed, Smith Co, pension # 13514 (wife also files in Smith Co after his death and awarded pension # 21982).
If the JR Wallace you are researching was not indigent he would not have applied, or would have been rejected (pensions in Texas were only approved for those who could prove a need).
