Re: 2nd Regiment, Kentucky Mounted Infantry (CSA)

Wow, I never looked at this CWSS info before ... they have some bad mistakes for the Orphan Brigade regiments. Wonder where they got this info? The National Archives records don't have these sorts of things in them.

1. The Orphan Brigade was not nearly the same as the Louisville Legion. "Louisville Legion" was a common name for the 5th Ky. Inf. *USA*.

2. The 2nd Ky. Inf. did NOT fight at Shiloh - they were not exchanged after their Ft. Donelson captivity until Aug-Sept 1862.

3. The Orphan Brigade regiments did not surrender with the Army of Tennessee on 26 April 1865 in NC. Although Gen. Johnston's surrender is what eventually led to the Orphan Brigade surrender, the Orphans actually laid down their arms and were paroled at Washington, GA, on 6-7 May 1865.

4. The 4th Ky. Inf. was not organized at Bowling Green, but at Camp Burnett, TN; nor did it end the war in North Carolina.

5. Their info for the 5th Ky. Inf. has some 9th Ky. Inf. info mixed in (confusing the two separate regiments).
