Just to venture a little off topic here, what civil rights did a person of color have in antebellum Indiana? Could he serve in the militia or on a jury, vote or give testimony in court against a white person?

Antebellum Illinois enacted state laws prohibiting all of the above. It appears likely that other midwestern states had similar statutes.
