Since the question concerned the church that he attended, I have been wondering during what period of his life. Would this have been when Johnston was a little boy in Kentucky, or during his first marriage while living near St. Louis, or after he settled in Brazoria County in Texas (1843-1855)? Since Johnston was continually in the military from 1855 until his death in 1862, that period could be ruled out.
