Thanks Michael,

Since making my post I've learned that the Louisville Provost Guard was ordered to the field in May 1863 and was mustered thereafter as the 34th Infantry, where they remained serving down in my " neck of the woods " in East Tennessee and Southwest Va. They apparently always carried the nickname " The Louisville Provost Guard." The ages of my wife's ancestors were throwing me off. ( mid-40's !!! ) They mustered out I believe before the rest were ordered south or remained behind and actually did " provost duty." Are you familiar with Federal units from Kentucky ? I am having much the same problem trying to find info on the " Nelson County Guard " also known as Gore's ( or Glore's ? ) Nelson County Guard. Thanks again for your help !!!!

Glenn
