I recently discovered some information regarding my GG-Grandfather, Thomas C. Middleton. Apparently, he was involved with gunrunning in Louisville during the Civil War. If anyone has any add'l information regarding Thomas or this illegal activity, kindly let me know.

His son, Edward J. Middleton, enlisted in the Union Army in NY in 1863 and was estranged from his father for the gunrunning activity and referred to him as a "pirate". Thomas Middleton was a businessman listed in the Jefferson Co. directory up until at least 1880.
