Well Im sure that any 1st National of a 13 star pattern would be as close to accurate as possible it mostly defentaly woudlnt have been a 11 star for obvious reasons as a Kentucky Regiment I know that the a orignal Orhpan Brigade pattern (blue field, 13 stars, red latin cross) that has been attributed to the 6th and the 6th would have carried a Hardee pattern flag early on but u have to have the very first Hardee pattern because this is the Buckner Pattern and Pattern of the regiments of the Army of Central Kentucky which the Orphan Brigade was a part of and Id say that this was the flag they went into the Battle of Shiloh their first major Battle with. If you want it broke done chronologically they first served with a 1st National pattern of unkown design until around the Winter of 1861 when they were issued the Buckner/Hardee Pattern flag (which can be seen on the FOTC or Flags of the Confederacy web page) which they would have fought in the Spring of 62' with this flag although some companies may have held onto their 1st Nationals as late as May of 62' when the army was reorganized at corinth at Corinth the were issued their Orphan Brigade flags or Breckinridge's Corps flag which they would have fought with through 62' in Late 62' early 63' probably just before Stone's River they would have once again be issued Hardee pattern flags (no borders though on Either of the Hardee patterns) This flag MAY have been decorated the way it is in the SOng Cover for the Kentucky Battle Song but its not very likely so if your looking for authencity best to leave it blank for a predecoration look as if the were fighting the battles they would be honored for on their flags in the future. They would have carried that flag all through 1863 and in earl 1864 shortly after Johnson took command of the army the would have been issued their famous Army of Tennessee pattern flag which would be captured in September during the Atlanta Campaign after that they may have been colorless or brought an old flag our of retirement or they may have been issued a replacement although the battle honors and other info on said replacement would be impossible to know.
