The 95th Ohio had 35 total dead and the 12th Indiana had 51, compared with, as it now stands, 60 dead for the 18th KY. Read the post below and see what you think. It doesn't make much sense, statistically.
In the American Civil War, the Union Armies lost 110,070 killed or mortally wounded, and 275,175 wounded; total, 385,245, exclusive of the missing in action whose number has not, as yet, been officially stated. Of the 110,070 deaths from battle, 67,058 were killed on the field; the remainder, 43,012, died of their wounds.

The total number of troops who died of their wounds in the Federal Army was 64.1% of the number of troops KIA, killed on the field.

At the Battle of Richmond, the losses were:US- 273KIA and 118DOW(Died of Wounds), CS- 155KIA and 115DOW, for a total of 661 dead. The number of 233 DOW's, men mortally wounded, is 54.4% of the 428 killed outright on the field of battle.

Gettysburg:US- 3,155KIA and 2,136DOW, 5,291 total dead. DOW's were 67.7% of those killed outright. CS-3,500KIA and 2,250DOW, 5,750 total dead. DOW's 64.2% of KIA.
Combined- 6,655KIA and 4,386DOW for 11,041 dead. DOW's were 65.9% of the KIA's.

If you find anything, please let me know. Thanks alot.
