Looking for information on C.C. (Calvin) Crumbaugh who is mentioned in A HISTORY OF ANDERSON COUNTY by Lewis W. McKee (1975). The book references a monument that was "erected in the courthouse yard prior to 1900" that lists Confederate soldiers from Anderson County. C.C. Crumbaugh, Co. F, 5th KY Cavalry is listed as being mentioned on the monument as having died.

I am working on tracking various branches of the Crumbaugh family and would like to know how (or if) this person connects to the Crumbaughs of Scott County. Here is what I know of him:

1860 Census, Anderson County, KY

Samuel Bromly, age 31, farmer, born KY
Sarah Bromly, age 23, born KY
Harrison Bromly, age 3, born KY
Calvin Crumbo, age 15, born KY
Mary E. Crumbo, age 14, born KY

I suspect Calvin Crumbo is really Calvin Crumbaugh (Crumbo possibly being a phonetic spelling of the surname). I also wonder if Bromley is really Brumley or Broomley (since I have seen that name in Anderson County records).

Calvin Crumbaugh was captured at Buffington Island, OH in July 1863 (was one of John Hunt Morgan's raiders) and was imprisoned at Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL. He died of typhoid fever on March 12, 1864 and was buried at the Confederate Mound at Oak Woods Cemetery in Chicago.

Does anyone have any information on this Calvin Crumbo (Crumbaugh)?
