I recently found book,The History of the First KY Brigade by Edward Porter Thompson, with references to Byrne's Battery. I accessed it via Heritage Quest. I quote"The part played by Byrne's Battery at Shiloh will be found in our account of that engagement". Also a brief history of battery begins on page 925.
I am interested in the men recruited from Washington Co.,MS. I am trying to connect McGrath mentioned in this book on page 928 with an ancestor named, Caldwell McGrath, who lived in Greenville, Washington Co., MS and is reportedly a veteran of CW. Any suggestions? Marsha
