There was an engraving published in Harper's Weekly during the Civil War entitled "Battle of Stone River, Tenn. Decisive Charge and Capture of Byrne's Confederate Battery by the 78th Pennsylvania and 21st Ohio Volunteers Friday Evening, January 2d, 1863.".
My question is, was Byrne's Battery really captured by the 78th at Murfreesboro? I know that the 78th and 21st charged and captured 2 guns of Wright's Tennessee Battery and at the same time routed and captured the colors of the 26th TN Infantry, but I have found nothing in the OR about them capturing Byrne's guns. I am inclined to think they got their facts wrong, but I'm not sure.
I believe Byrne's Battery was from KY so if anyone is familiar with this and could shed some light, I would appreciate it!
