Annual Nashville, TN Civil War symposium

4th Annual Traveller’s Rest Civil War Symposium – Nashville, TN – Saturday, March 15, 2008. 9 AM to 4 PM***

Be an active participant in our fastest growing event as leading Civil War historians take a look at the Western Theater. This year’s topic is “Occupied Nashville.”

Featured speakers include Walter Durham, Tennessee State Historian, Dr. Bobby Lovett, Tennessee State University, and Dr. Robert Hunt, Middle Tennessee State University. Durham is the author of Occupied Nashville and Reluctant Partners, both intensive works on Nashville during the war. Dr. Lovett has written extensively on the African American experience, the United States Colored Troops, and the building of Ft. Negley. Hunt will focus on why Nashville became an important Union objective, and how the Confederates failed to properly defend the city.

During the afternoon a tour of the new Ft. Negley Visitor’s Center and the fort itself will take place. This all day event includes lunch at Travellers Rest. Admission: $40.00 per person - a boxed lunch and drink is included.
