My relative William Milton Patton was given a
pension by the State of Tennessee. He had to produce two
witnesses to his capture. Somehow he found a Captain and
a Private. Their testimony is in the Tennesse State Archieves. He got his pension, $11 per month and a POW
Medal for Camp Douglas. What makes it more amazing he
served for a unit in Kentucky. He had a plantation
northeast of Lexington Ky. and was wealthy when the
war started however he choose the Confederate side
and of course lost everything. He lived until 1911 and died
in nashville tenn.
